What is Advela Academy?
Advela Academy is an English Language Arts focused enrichment program aimed at teaching students the skills needed to successfully utilize the English language to prepare them for high school, college and beyond.
Advela Academy offers live small group (2-6 students) instruction in grade and age appropriate level courses. In addition, we offer personalized one-on-one services to meet students' needs, including tutoring and SAT and essay writing prep.

What is ELA?
ELA is an acronym used widely in US academia and beyond for English Language Arts. ELA is used by educators to describe English curriculum taught in schools. It encompasses language skills beyond conversational and writing abilities, and includes reading, spelling, grammar, literature, composition and speech that aim to develop students' proficiency, comprehension and capacity for use of written and oral language in English.

What is the focus of Advela Academy?
Advela Academy courses provide 3rd to 9th grade students with a rigorous exploration of English Language Arts foundations. We expose students to the breadth of genres and purposes for reading and writing with the depth needed to engage and develop critical skills. In addition, we focus on reading foundational skills, building reading comprehension strategies, writing, grammar, and speaking and listening skills.
For older students, we provide ELA support for high school courses, AP courses, SAT/ACT preparation and college essay guidance.

What age group does Advela teach?
Advela Academy works with students of all ages. For our youngest students (K-2), we offer personalized individual curriculum.
For our students in 3rd to 9th grades, we offer ELA classes and provide one-on-one personalized services.
For high school students, Advela Academy offers need specific ELA support, AP preparation, SAT and ACT instruction, and essay support.

Who will teach the classes, and what curriculum will be used?
Our instructors are certified, credentialed teachers in the United States who have gone through teacher training and use best practices to foster a student-centered learning environment. They have a proven track record for engaging and effective research-based teaching methodologies.
Advela’s curriculum has been vetted so students engage in age level appropriate, interesting, and challenging content. Advela curates effective content from resources through our experience and develops curriculum to meet the needs of our students and the goals we are working to accomplish.

How do I enroll my child?
Click on “Contact Us” and complete the form to get in touch with us. We will set up an appointment for us to get to know your student’s needs and align expectations. During the appointment, we will assess your student's skill level if appropriate to identify his/her course level. Also at this meeting, we will answer any questions you might have and assist you to enroll.

How do I know which class to sign up for?
We generally recommend our ELA Exploration course to get started with us. This will give your student an understanding of Advela Academy's teaching methodology and what expectations are so that he/she can get the most out of participating in our classes.
In addition, we offer other class options including Book Club which focus on a book study. We can also tailor students’ learning goals with custom classes. If you have a group of students, we can work with you to customize a class for your group within the Advela Method framework.

How is instruction delivered?
Advela Academy classes are delivered via an online platform through Google Meets and Google Classroom. This enables us to provide small classes with live teachers. Students can learn with students from other parts of the country logging in from a place of your convenience.
